About Karla

I am a storyteller, a listener, an artist, and an alchemist. 

I am fascinated by the beautiful tension between structure and spontaneity, old and new, geometry and nature. Inspiration finds me in architecture, beautifully worn objects, organic forms, and surprising combinations.

In my studio, those influences take shape through metal, texture, and form. I experiment, arrange, and play until elements come together in a way that simply feels right.

From my studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I've been making jewelry as a full-time artist since 2013, combining traditional fabrication techniques — piercing, cutting, sinking, chasing, and overlaying metal — with wax-carved and cast elements, including organic forms.

Working in sterling and fine silver and 14–24 karat gold, I hand-select gemstones and build texture and patina into each piece.  Every detail is considered, from the balance and proportion of a design to the way a piece sits naturally on the body.

One of my favorite parts of being a jewelry artist is helping someone discover a piece that might have been overlooked. 

I love witnessing that moment of recognition--the smile, the change in expression, the quiet certainty that this is the one.
